France then Germany will leave the Euro

The so-called Global Financial Crisis is a term so widely used that it has earned its own acronym of GFC . When first seen, it seemed like girl friend club or some such, since many friends use GF loosely to refer to sweethearts. The GFC is falsely named, since it is more accurately described as a global monetary war with the USGovt vigorously defending its franchise in the USDollar for crude oil and trade settlement, and for bank reserves management. Take either away, and the other departs quickly, leaving the United States vulnerable to a quick ticket to the Third World marred by price inflation and supply shortage, even isolation in ring fences. On its own devices, the US is in as bad shape as the worst of the PIIGS nations. The USGovt debt is above 100% of GDP finally. The annual deficit of $1.5 trillion could not be financed in normal methods. So the USFed is the adopted buyer of last resort, purchasing over 80% of new and recycled US debt issuance. The Interest Rate ...

A new objective in the Gold battlefield

Image
A very important objective change has taken place in the gold market. Its price is not moving above the resistance established in the 1600 to 1900 wide berth range. Its price is not moving below support in the same wide permitted range. When the gold price has approached the 1800 level recently, all manner of naked soldiers emerge with imaginery swords to whack the price down, to bring it under heel. The ruse has a high cost in the real world though, as the gold cartel has been forced to shed an enormous supply of gold as punishment for each naked short episode. The opponents to fraudulent controlled manipulated markets have emerged in force to respond. They fight from the East. They fight for a fair and equitable market. They are poking holes in the floor of the syndicate helm where legs fall through. Demand for the gold core has become acute with pitched battles. The financial presss reports none of it.  In desperation, the cartel has conducted regular and routine raids of t...

2012 is 'Interesting Times'

Image
We are at a turning point in history, in future this time will be regarded in the same manner as the Anglo-German Wars of 1914 to 1945, the Pan-European riots of the 1840's and the Revolutions of the 1780's, these are INTERESTING TIMES. There seems to be a great convergence of endings all focusing at this point in the history of society; Democracy, Banking, The Welfare State, Law and the Union Movement all seem to be converging on their Waterloos at the same point in time. That point being the day after the next election for President of the United States. Each of course was a much needed innovation in its turn, but like all things they have faded, perverted from their original course and become twisted and repressive. What once was a tool of enablement has become repression. Where once there was protection of freedom there are now the chains of debt, dependence, fear, regulation and sham. The good news is that these are breaking apart. Following every ending their...

Iran, Oil, Gold & the US dollar - UPDATED

Image
World leaders meet next week to discuss  the future of the US as the world's reserve currency One of the facts of life over the last 40 years has been that the U.S. dollar is the world’s sole global reserve currency. This is despite the fundamental factors underlying the U.S. balance of payments, which has been awful over that entire time. Nevertheless, the dollar ruled the global monetary system through these four decades and appears to be doing so still. But is that coming to an end? Next week there is a meeting of the BRICS nation over the use by the U.S. of the SWIFT system to block Iran from selling its oil. The BRICS nations are buyers of that oil. Their views on Iran’s nuclear policies do not go as far as refusing to buy their oil. The SWIFT system is the system used to make international payments and covers most acceptable currencies. This use of the international monetary system as a war machine has surprised and angered these nations who are meeting next week to d...

Obama "After my election I have more flexibility"

Image
The Latest from the Land of the Free This year millions of Americans will be heading to the polls to cast their vote for the next US president, but many are concerned that millions of votes could be thrown away come election night skewing the results. According to reports, 2.2 million votes were lost due to voter registration problems in 2008. Back in 2011 Hilary Clinton criticised the Russians over their lack of democratic transparency which led to Vladimir Putin installing live streaming webcams on every ballot box during his recent re-election, well the Russians have now thrown down the challenge to the United States to do the same. But does it matter anyway, what will the winner do, will he keep his promises? Do we know who the winner will be? Well Obama has answered both those questions for us in the following clip courtesy of Russia Today. Obama tells the Russians 'After my election, I have more flexibility' I do not know why this has become such ...

Vote rigging in the USA, not Russia

Image
Randy Reudrich GOP Alaska Chairman The Latest Facing Accusations of Electoral Impropriety It has been another strange week in world politics, first the Russian Presidential elections took place and I and anyone else who cared to log in could watch the ballots as they were cast anywhere in the world. The C-Span network and Fox News streamed live from webcams set up around Russia in what is unprecedented transparency during an election. The Western Press has of course held that the election was fixed, that there was no real alternative to Vladimir Putin, that the media coverage was biased, and so on and so forth. Of course those exact same criticisms were levelled in Jersey at the last election. I don't think they are necessarily unfair criticisms but it seems the same standards must apply to all elections anywhere around the world. And then there is the good old USA where the question on everyone's lips is 'How did Ron Paul lose Alaska?' Paul's ardent sup...

Russian Elections - fairer than here or not?

Image
Russia has launched a probe into alleged dirty tricks by the opposition ahead of the weekend’s presidential elections as critics of Vladimir Putin accused the authorities of foul play. The Russian investigative committee said it was investigating claims that the opposition had already filmed videos supposedly showing electoral fraud so activists can then denounce the elections as a sham. Vladimir Putin, the Bailhache of Russia? Meanwhile, a leading Russia NGO which Putin has accused of acting on behalf of the West catalogued a litany of violations in favour of his presidential campaign, including the wholesale use of the state’s resources. The tit-for-tat exchange of accusations heightened tensions ahead of Sunday’s polls which Putin is expected to win but which the emboldened opposition has warned will be followed by street protests against his rule. “Investigators have begun a preliminary check of video clips uploaded onto the Internet, dated March 4, 2012 and contain...

The Constitution of Jersey: Lessons from the Soviet Union

Historical Archive This article is preserved as part of the historical record of this blog. It reflects the author's views at the time of publication. The content has not been substantively altered, although the HTML, accessibility and formatting have been updated to meet modern web standards. In a recent blog, I looked at the effect of Spartan-style constitutions and the inevitable failures which arise when circumstances change but the constitution and government cannot adapt to the new reality. This has obvious parallels to what is happening in the Western world, but instead I will look at a constitution which is further along the road, has passed its crisis and begun to rebuild: Russia. The economy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was based upon state ownership of the means of production, collective farming, industrial manufacturing and centralised administrative planning. The economy was characterised by state control of investment, public...
